Find the Right Recycling Route in Ireland by Centre, County or Brand
Ireland does not have one single type of “recycling centre.” Depending on what you have, the correct route may be a council civic amenity site, private public drop-off centre, bring bank, WEEE electrical point, Re-turn machine or household bin collector.
This directory separates those services so you can find the right centre or waste brand without assuming that a nearby bottle bank, council site and wheelie-bin company all do the same job.
National rule: check the exact centre or collector before travelling, signing up or switching. Hours, charges, accepted items and household collection areas can change.
Quick answer: where should you start?
If you need a physical recycling or drop-off location, start with the official MyWaste locator. It can filter civic amenity/recycling centres, bring banks, portable battery points, free electrical/battery drop-offs and lightbulb locations.
If you need household wheelie-bin collection, check the provider serving your local-authority area and then confirm your exact Eircode directly with that company.
Do not search by brand first for every item
A Panda, Greyhound, AES, City Bin or Country Clean household account is one service. A council recycling centre, WEEE retailer drop-off and Re-turn machine are different services.
Start with the item you need to recycle, then choose the correct route.
Which Type of Recycling Service Do You Actually Need?
The fastest route is to identify the waste first. Ireland’s official MyWaste directory and Waste A–Z use different disposal routes because a centre that accepts cardboard may not accept asbestos, a bring bank may only take glass, and a retailer may accept electrical equipment but not bulky general waste.
Civic amenity / recycling centre
Best for multiple sorted household materials, WEEE, oils, green waste, mattresses or other bulky items where that particular site accepts them.
Always check: opening hours, household-only rules, vehicle limits and charges.
Bring bank
Best for a small number of clearly listed materials such as glass bottles/jars, cans or textiles depending on the individual site.
A bring bank is not a substitute for a full civic amenity centre.
Household bin company
Best for regular kerbside general waste, recycling and food/organic waste collection at a serviced address.
Coverage, plan price and collection day are normally address-specific.
WEEE electrical drop-off
Use an authorised free route for household electrical equipment, batteries or lighting where applicable.
Re-turn point
Use a participating shop, supermarket or reverse vending machine for eligible deposit-bearing plastic drinks bottles and cans.
Keep the container empty and undamaged so the barcode can be recognised.
Specialist disposal
Asbestos, chemicals, clinical/sharp waste, commercial waste and some construction materials may need a specialist authorised route.
Do not hide hazardous material inside ordinary household bags.
All Recycling Centres in Ireland: Use the Live National Directory
A fixed article cannot safely reproduce every current Irish recycling location. MyWaste’s live directory contains civic amenity sites, local recycling centres, bring banks, electrical retailers, battery collection points and other approved drop-off locations, with new or changed listings appearing over time.
For that reason, the most useful “all centres” directory is the official live locator rather than a copied list that can become outdated.
Open the MyWaste locator
Use the nationwide search to find facilities by location, address or name.
Select the correct facility type
Choose civic amenity/recycling centre, bring bank, battery point, electrical drop-off or lightbulb drop-off instead of treating every pin as identical.
Open the individual facility record
Check address, Eircode, contact details and the services attached to that specific listing.
Verify changing details
For paid, bulky or unusual waste, check the council/operator page or call the centre before loading the car.
Why this page does not claim an exact national centre count: the MyWaste system combines several types of recycling and take-back location, and its live listings change. An exact copied number would quickly become misleading.
Recycling Ireland Directory by County and Local-Authority Area
Physical recycling-centre rules are local, while household bin-company coverage follows individual commercial routes. Use your county or local-authority area as the starting point, then verify the exact address or facility.

Major Recycling and Household Waste Brands in Ireland
These companies are primarily relevant when you need regular household bin collection, account support, collection calendars, skips or access to operator-run facilities. They are not interchangeable with council civic amenity sites.

Do not choose a collector from a county name alone. A company can operate somewhere in your county without servicing your estate, rural road, apartment complex or exact Eircode.
Electricals, Batteries, Lightbulbs and Deposit-Return Containers
WEEE and batteries
WEEE Ireland describes household electrical waste as anything with a plug or battery at the end of its useful life. It provides free authorised collection routes through participating recycling centres, retailers, public collection days and specialist points.
Its coverage is not identical in every county. WEEE Ireland specifically directs users in certain areas to MyWaste for the relevant electrical/battery recycling route.
Re-turn bottles and cans
Eligible drinks containers in the Deposit Return Scheme are PET plastic bottles and aluminium or steel cans from 150ml to 3 litres.
Return eligible containers empty and undamaged to a participating shop or supermarket, either through a reverse vending machine or a manual return point where available.
Deposit containers are different from ordinary recycling. If an eligible can or bottle carries a refundable deposit, returning it through Re-turn lets you recover that deposit rather than simply placing the container into ordinary mixed recycling.
Common Irish Waste Routes at a Glance
| Item | Normal first route | When to use a centre |
|---|---|---|
| Paper and cardboard | Household recycling bin when clean, dry and accepted. | Large quantities or no kerbside service. |
| Plastic packaging | Household recycling bin when covered by the Irish recycling list. | Use centre only where the item/listing specifically allows it. |
| Food waste | Brown bin / home composting where appropriate. | Only where a site explicitly provides food-waste service. |
| Glass bottles and jars | Bottle bank or centre glass bank. | Useful if already visiting with other materials. |
| Electrical appliance | Free WEEE retailer/collection route. | Use a listed WEEE-enabled centre. |
| Deposit can/bottle | Re-turn participating retailer/RVM. | Do not give up a refundable deposit unnecessarily. |
| Furniture or mattress | Reuse if suitable; otherwise civic amenity/bulky-waste service. | Check charge and acceptance first. |
| Paint / chemicals | Site-specific hazardous household waste route. | Only after confirming the site accepts that material. |
For an uncertain item, use the MyWaste Waste A–Z before putting it into a bin or loading the car.
How to Compare or Switch Recycling and Waste Brands Safely
A provider appearing in your county does not prove that your exact property can get service. Before cancelling an existing account, confirm the new service in writing or through the provider’s address checker.
Confirm Eircode coverage
Ask whether the exact address is on an active household route and whether apartments, gated estates or rural lanes have different collection points.
Compare the whole plan
Check service charge, weight allowance, excess-kilogram charges, lift charges, included bins and any introductory-offer end date.
Confirm the first collection
Get the bin-delivery date, collection calendar and first collection date before ending your old service.
Close the old account correctly
Ask about notice periods, final balance, unused credit, old-bin removal and any collection or cancellation charge.
Recycling Ireland Directory FAQ
Where can I find all recycling centres in Ireland?
Use the MyWaste national locator. It lets you search by location or name and filter civic amenity/recycling centres, bring banks, battery points, free electrical/battery drop-offs and lightbulb drop-offs.
Is a civic amenity site the same as a bring bank?
No. A civic amenity or recycling centre usually accepts a broader range of sorted household materials and may have staff, charges and vehicle rules. A bring bank normally accepts only a limited set of materials such as glass, cans or textiles.
Which recycling company covers all of Ireland?
No household collector should be assumed to cover every Irish address. IWMA’s area directory shows that available brands differ by local-authority area, and exact service should still be confirmed by Eircode.
What are the main recycling brands in Ireland?
Brands appearing across current household waste directories include Panda, Greyhound, The City Bin Co, Thorntons, Oxigen, AES/Bord na Móna, Country Clean, Barna Recycling, Mr Binman, Wiser, Mulleadys, Clean Ireland and several regional operators.
Where can I recycle electrical items in Ireland?
Household electrical, battery and lighting waste can use authorised free WEEE routes, including participating recycling centres, retailers and public collection events. Use WEEE Ireland or MyWaste to find the correct local point.
Where do Re-turn bottles and cans go?
Eligible deposit-bearing PET bottles and aluminium or steel cans should be returned empty and undamaged to a participating retailer or reverse vending machine so the deposit can be refunded.
Can I bring black bags to any recycling centre?
No. Some paid civic amenity or private facilities accept residual household waste, while others reject black bags completely. Check the exact centre before travelling.
Are recycling-centre charges the same across Ireland?
No. Entry fees, vehicle charges and individual item charges differ between councils, contractors and private facilities. Prices can also change independently.
How do I know which bin company serves my house?
Start with the household collectors listed for your area, then enter your address or Eircode in the provider’s official checker or contact support. County-level coverage alone is not enough.
Is Recycling Centre Ireland an official government directory?
No. Recycling Centre Ireland is an independent information website. Use MyWaste, your local authority, compliance schemes and individual waste operators for live official decisions.

Best Way to Use This Recycling Ireland Directory
Start with the waste item. Use MyWaste for a physical drop-off, WEEE Ireland for electrical/battery routes where applicable, Re-turn for deposit containers, and a household collector only when you need regular kerbside service.
Recycling Centre Ireland is an independent information website. It does not operate recycling centres, household bin routes, WEEE schemes or Ireland’s Deposit Return Scheme.
