Inagh Recycling Centre at a Glance

Inagh’s full recycling and waste facility is the Central Waste Management Facility at Ballyduff Beg, Inagh, Co. Clare, V95 XT96. Clare County Council lists normal opening hours of 8:30am–4:30pm Tuesday to Friday and 8:30am–1pm Saturday.

Monday and Sunday are closed. The facility accepts a broad range of household recyclables and also provides a paid route for general domestic waste, mattresses and furniture.

Normal household recycling

A car, car-based van, 4×4 or equivalent currently costs €5 for recyclable material.

Electricals and batteries

Household WEEE, fluorescent tubes and waste batteries are listed as free for householders, subject to the site’s rules.

General rubbish

This is not recycling-only. General domestic waste is also accepted and priced separately from normal recyclable loads.

Do not confuse this facility with Inagh Bring Bank. The separate bring bank is at the Church Car Park in Inagh, operates 24 hours and is for aluminium cans and glass bottles/jars. It is not a substitute for the Ballyduff Beg recycling and waste facility.

Recyclable loads

Inagh Recycling Centre Charges for Cars, Vans and Trailers

The council charges by vehicle/load category for recyclable material. Prices currently published by Clare County Council include VAT at 13.5%.

Money-saving step: separate household WEEE, fluorescent tubes, batteries and clean/dry textiles from chargeable recycling. The council lists these household streams as free when brought under the published conditions.

Domestic waste & bulky goods

General Waste, Mattress, Furniture and Timber Charges

Inagh is more useful than a recycling-only site when you have residual household waste or bulky furniture. These materials use a separate charging schedule.

1 general domestic waste bag €7 Council defines a bag equivalent as roughly 40–50 litres.
More than 10 bags €240 per tonne Tonnage-based loads are weighed; minimum tonnage charge rules apply.

Two-seater couch €20 Per unit.

Do not bring

Waste Categories Not Accepted at the Inagh Facility

The site’s broad acceptance list does not mean every waste stream can be brought to Ballyduff Beg.

Not accepted

  • Animal carcasses
  • Medical and healthcare waste
  • Sewage sludges
  • Septic tank effluent

Use another approved route

  • Farm plastic
  • Tyres

Check the specific Clare County Council guidance for farm-plastic and tyre recycling rather than bringing these items to the gate.

Never leave rejected waste outside the facility or beside a bring bank. Clare County Council warns that leaving waste around recycling points can constitute an offence under litter legislation.

Useful site rules

Practical Rules That Can Prevent Problems at Inagh

Children must be supervised

Children accompanying adults must be strictly supervised. If that cannot be done safely, the council says they should remain in the vehicle.

Staff do not handle wheelie bins

If you arrive with waste inside a wheelie bin, you need to handle it yourself. The council recommends bagging the waste first if lifting the whole bin would be difficult.

Containers can fill

The council reserves the right to refuse entry if containers are full or if the material falls outside the site’s normal acceptance list.

Large or unusual load?

Call 065 6836960 before leaving home if the quantity, vehicle or waste type does not clearly match the published categories.

Before-you-go plan

How to Prepare for an Inagh Recycling Centre Visit

1

Confirm the opening day

Use the normal Tuesday–Saturday schedule, but recheck the council page around holidays and Christmas.

2

Separate recyclables from residual waste

Do not load everything as one mixed pile. Recycling and general domestic waste are priced differently.

3

Check special limits

Remember the maximum 10 paint tins per vehicle, 4 cm branch-diameter limit and textile restrictions.

4

Choose the right vehicle category

A car, small trailer, light van and larger vehicle/trailer combination have different recycling charges.

5

Phone if anything is unclear

For an unusual material or large load, call 065 6836960 before travelling rather than relying on an old price list or map listing.

Do you only have glass or cans?

Inagh Bring Bank Is a Different 24-Hour Facility

If you only need to drop off glass bottles/jars or aluminium cans, the smaller Inagh Bring Bank may be more convenient. Clare County Council lists it at the Church Car Park in Inagh and gives it 24-hour opening.

Bring bank accepts

Glass bottles and jars, plus aluminium cans.

Do not bring full recycling-centre loads

The Church Car Park bring bank is not the place for furniture, general rubbish, green waste, mattresses, WEEE loads or the wider material list handled at Ballyduff Beg.
