These are accepted under item-specific charges rather than the basic vehicle charge alone.
Part-week facility: do not assume Tubbercurry is open Monday to Friday. The current official timetable has it closed Monday through Wednesday.
Tubbercurry Recycling Centre Opening Hours
The current timetable published by Sligo County Council and the MyWaste listing agree on the three normal opening days: Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
| Day | Current hours | Visit note |

| Monday | Closed | Do not plan a Monday visit. |
| Tuesday | Closed | Facility not normally open. |
| Wednesday | Closed | Facility not normally open. |

Trailer users: Barna Recycling says trailer entry stops 15 minutes before the advertised closing time. Do not arrive at 4:55pm on Friday or 3:55pm on Saturday expecting a trailer load to be admitted.
Holiday check: seasonal and bank-holiday opening can differ from the normal timetable. Recheck Sligo County Council or Barna Recycling before a holiday-week visit.
Tubbercurry Recycling Centre Address and Eircode

Eircode discrepancy: the current Sligo County Council facilities page gives F91 AP97, while MyWaste currently displays F91 P6X2 for its Tubbercurry Civic Amenity Site entry. This guide uses the council’s F91 AP97. If your navigation app behaves differently, search for “Tubbercurry Civic Amenity Centre” or “Connolly Park” and confirm before travelling.
Tubbercurry Recycling Centre Charges
Sligo County Council marks the current Tubbercurry prices as applying from June 2026. The standard charge depends on the vehicle, while mattresses and several specialist household waste items have additional item charges.
| Vehicle or item | Current published price | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Car | €4 | Standard car recycling charge. |
| Car & trailer | €7 | Domestic trailer rules also apply. |
| Van | €7 | Confirm unusual or commercial-looking loads first. |
| Large vehicle | €15 | Published large-vehicle category. |
| Single mattress | €10 | Current council item price. |
| Double mattress | €20 | Current price is higher than older Barna flyers showing €15. |
| Human medicines | €1 per 5 items | Keep medicines separate from ordinary recycling. |
| Oil filter | €0.50 | Per filter. |
| Paint can, 5L or smaller | €0.50 | Per can. |
| Paint can over 5L | €1 | Per can. |
Use the 2026 council list, not an old flyer. Older Barna documents show a lower €15 double-mattress charge. Sligo County Council’s current June 2026 page lists €20, so this guide uses €20.
What Can You Recycle Free at Tubbercurry?
The current Sligo County Council price list identifies three clear free household recycling streams.
WEEE electrical goods
Household waste electrical and electronic equipment is listed as free. Barna’s current material matrix includes both hazardous and non-hazardous WEEE plus white goods, fridges and freezers at Tubbercurry.
Clothes bank
The clothes bank is currently listed free. Barna also identifies clothing, footwear and textiles as accepted at Tubbercurry.
Bottle bank
The council currently lists the bottle bank as free. MyWaste also lists a bring bank at the entrance to the recycling centre.
Separate free material before arriving. If you mix free WEEE or textiles into a wider chargeable load, staff still need to identify and sort the different streams correctly.
What Items Does Tubbercurry Recycling Centre Accept?
Barna Recycling’s current civic-amenity material matrix confirms the following waste streams for Tubbercurry. Acceptance varies between Barna sites, so the list below is specific to streams where Tubbercurry is named.
Why this list is narrower than some old Tubbercurry leaflets: historic council and Barna flyers mention additional materials such as garden waste, farm plastics, construction waste and other hazardous items. Those older documents are useful background, but this guide does not present those categories as currently confirmed unless they also appear in current published information.
Paint, Batteries, WEEE, Timber and Medicines
Paint
Current prices are €0.50 for a paint can of 5 litres or smaller and €1 for a can over 5 litres. Barna lists both hazardous and non-hazardous paint at Tubbercurry.
Batteries
Barna currently lists solid, household and lead-acid batteries as accepted at Tubbercurry. Keep batteries separate from normal mixed recyclables during transport.
Electrical goods
Household WEEE is free under the council price list. MyWaste additionally categorises Tubbercurry as a free electrical/battery recycling and lightbulb drop-off location.
Timber
Barna’s current accepted-items matrix lists both treated and untreated timber at Tubbercurry.
Human medicines
The current council charge is €1 for five items. Keep medicines separate rather than placing them in an ordinary recycling load.
Oil filters
Oil filters are accepted at a current published charge of €0.50 per item.
Trailer and Large-Load Rules to Check Before Driving
Barna Recycling publishes general rules for its recycling centres that are especially important if you are bringing more than a normal car load.
Domestic trailer
Load it so staff can fully inspect the contents before tipping. A covered or tightly packed load that cannot be checked may cause problems at the gate.
Agricultural or animal trailer
Barna states these are not allowed at its recycling centres except Carrowbrowne. Do not bring one to Tubbercurry.
Arrive before closing
Trailer entry stops 15 minutes before advertised closing time. Plan unloading time as well as driving time.
Large or unusual load: call 071 9186869 before travelling. A published €15 “large vehicle” price does not prove that every type or quantity of waste in a large vehicle will be accepted.
How to Prepare for a Tubbercurry Recycling Centre Visit
Check that today is an opening day
The normal schedule is Thursday, Friday and Saturday only.
Separate the load at home
Keep cardboard, paper, plastics, textiles, WEEE, batteries, metal, timber, paint and mattresses separate where practical.
Work out your likely charge
Use the vehicle price plus any separate mattress, paint, medicine or oil-filter charge that applies.
Check trailer restrictions
Domestic trailer loads must remain inspectable, and agricultural or animal trailers should not be brought to Tubbercurry.
Phone about anything not clearly listed
Call 071 9186869 rather than relying on an old leaflet for an unusual or potentially hazardous waste stream.
When Tubbercurry Is Not the Right Disposal Route
Sligo County Council lists two civic amenity sites in the county: Tubbercurry and Panda Recycling Centre at Deep Water Quay in Sligo. It also identifies Ballisodare Composting Facility as a dedicated green-waste route.
Panda Recycling Centre, Sligo
The Deep Water Quay facility has a broader Monday-to-Saturday opening pattern and handles recyclable material plus separately priced general household waste.
Ballisodare green waste
Grass clippings, hedge trimmings, trees, bushes, shrubs and leaf litter can be taken to the Ballisodare Composting Facility subject to its rules and charges.
Bring banks
Sligo County Council lists 41 bring banks in the county for domestic users. They are free and primarily serve glass bottles, jars and aluminium cans, with clothing at some locations.
